That oven produces pizzas with thin but sturdy crusts and just the right bit of char dappling the edges. Pizzas come a variety of ways, from the classic margherita to clams on an oil-and-garlic-based pie to barbecue chicken. The latter, topped with brie, is especially hearty, and its barbecue sauce — which also graces baby back ribs and oven-roasted chicken wings — is made in-house with wild Maine blueberries and a balancing hit of chipotle pepper. There aren’t a ton of restaurants in town, but if you’re like me and need a dining destination to give your road trip purpose, plug the address for Portage Tap House into your GPS. Aside from beer, pizza appears to be restaurant’s specialty. As tables filled up and the oven got to work, I started thinking about which one I’d order on my next trip to Rangeley, which I’ll never wait so long to take again. I sat at the large, horseshoe bar looking onto the wood-fired oven where the pizzas – including clam, meat lovers and vegan ($10-$16) – are made.

Great beer selection,

Portage Tap House opened in 2019 with a menu that runs the price-point gamut from pub grub to wood-fired pizzas to New York strip steak. The idea was to create a come-one-come-all restaurant, good for grabbing wings and a beer or tucking into surf and turf and a nice glass of red wine. Even the dishes that skew casual get plenty of care and attention in chef Jamie Doyon’s kitchen. Corn on the cob, for instance, is prepared as a variation on Mexican street corn, but instead of grilling the corn, Doyon gives it a quick dip in the deep fryer, then drizzles it with chipotle mayo and garnishes it with fried onions. Overall, the Reynoldses set out to offer food that didn’t show up elsewhere in Rangeley or Oquossoc. Burgers aren’t hard to find in the area, but theirs is made with ground bison (as is their meatloaf) and topped with a sweet-savory heap of bacon-onion jam.

Past downtown Rangeley in the village of Oquossoc, the elevated pub opened a couple years ago, adding a more modern food menu and extensive craft beer list to the area’s offerings. Their restaurant takes its name from the history of its location, on Carry Road. If you’d just paddled across windy Mooselookmeguntic and lugged a canoe overhead for more than a mile, you could do much worse than to find yourself in front of a piping-hot pizza and a cold beverage at Portage Tap House. When Portage Tap House opened, it had the only wood-fired oven in the area (since joined by Rangeley’s Furbish Brew House & Eats).

Does Centre Street Tap House offer desserts?

For Laura and Paul, it’s another reason to get deeper into their new line of work — she’s been stepping in as sous chef, and he’s been washing dishes. I had a haddock sandwich ($14) that is no longer listed on the menu, and subbed out fries for a side salad ($2), which came with more than I expected, including cranberries, pecans, goat cheese and frizzled onions. I might have stuck with the fries if I had noticed the house salad description, but it would have been a mistake. It was a delicious addition to my meal and is available to order on its own ($6) with the option to add a protein, including haddock ($10), which I can also recommend. This was the first time I've been here and it was really nice. We had brunch with the adult kids and they really loved the build-your-own Bloody Mary bar.

The Reynoldses aimed to foster the feel of a proper hangout — a place that would eliminate the urge to drive into Rangeley for a night out. Universal Orlando's Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar Review

cowfish charlotte menu

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cowfish Restaurant during my visit to Universal Studios Florida, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. Cowfish combines the best of both worlds by offering a unique fusion of American burgers and Japanese sushi, and they truly excel in delivering an innovative and delicious dining experience. The restaurant has a vibrant and modern decor, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere.

What’s on the menu at The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar?

Top-notch gourmet burgers, gorgeous sushi, and a one-of-a-kind hybrid (called burgushi, which makes, say, sushi rolls out of traditional burger components) essentially mean Cowfish is three separate restaurants that are rolled into one. Locally owned, The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar has been the perfect spot for a business lunch or a family night out since 2010. Order a bento box with a mini burger, a sushi roll, and sides or their signature burgushi, a fusion of both burgers and sushi.

Sushi Bar Selections

Remember that while Cowfish makes efforts to accommodate guests with food allergies, cross-contamination may still be a possibility in a shared kitchen environment. If your food allergies are severe, it’s important to exercise caution and assess your personal level of comfort in dining at the restaurant. The sushi is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the flavors are perfectly balanced. The burgers, on the other hand, are juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It’s truly a treat to experience the harmonious blend of flavors in each bite.

About Orlando Informer

They are always ready to offer recommendations and ensure that guests have a fantastic dining experience. It’s hard to go wrong here for an aesthetically pleasing and delicious dining experience. It is considered a Full Service Restaurant so ensure that these are part of your plan and you haven’t already used your allotment for the day. Remember that the menu at Cowfish Restaurant may evolve over time, so it’s always a good idea to check their current offerings and specials when you visit. It’s important to note that availability can vary, especially during peak times and weekends, so it’s advisable to make your reservation well in advance to secure your preferred date and time. Cowfish Restaurant at Universal Studios Florida is a gem that seamlessly blends American and Japanese cuisines, offering a truly unique and enjoyable dining experience.

One of the standout aspects of Cowfish is their menu, which is filled with an impressive selection of sushi rolls, specialty burgers, and creative dishes that blend the flavors and styles of both cuisines. Whether you’re a sushi enthusiast or a burger lover, there is something to satisfy every palate. The “Fusion Specialty Bento Box” is a must-try, offering a delightful combination of sushi, sliders, and flavorful sides that showcases the restaurant’s culinary creativity. Forget The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar’s colorful, off-kilter decor or its nifty virtual aquariums (to help guests while away the time when waiting for a seat) – the real star of this highly unusual restaurant is its tri-fold menu.

It wasn’t just the builder’s remedy and state pressure fueling the City Council’s appetite for reform. A slump in tourism and the growth of e-commerce and working from home have all had a negative impact on Santa Monica’s budget, according to Zwick. There were also real penalties for cities that didn’t make adequate plans, Zwick added. “If you were to ask a group of 100 developers familiar with development in Southern California to name three development-friendly cities in Southern California, I don’t think any of them would mention Santa Monica,” he added. “This was probably our fastest entitlement that we experienced in the state,” Watson said. Eight months would have been a speedy timeframe for any California city, she added.

One of the goals of Project House Austin was to bring mid-century design to people in a new way. With such a large home and a desire to bring new ideas to light with each space, it was a challenge to keep the theme cohesive. Although the casita paid homage to a classic mid century color palette and period furnishings, Christine wanted to switch it up in the main house and cater to more-modern preferences.

Support Safe Quality Affordable Housing in Our Community

Housing advocates describe the pro-housing designation Santa Monica received as part of a high-level, forward-looking reward system for the cities complying with the state’s housing law. Santa Monica has been making gradual progress, city data shows, though actual development has been uneven. Out of around 9,300 housing units proposed since 2010, about 3,000 have been approved.

She wrote on X that the Christian gospel says, "Jesus was handed over to Herod to be crucified by the Jews," an interpretation of the Bible that has been used historically to justify antisemitic attacks on the Jewish community. After stating "antisemitism is wrong," Greene said in a post on X that she would not vote for the bill because the definition of antisemitism adopted by the bill includes "claims of Jews killing Jesus" - claims that she argues are true. Please make every effort to fully complete each application question. Please identify to the best of your ability the account under which the CDS request would be funded.

It's shielded with a fence and 24-hour security which cloaks the village from the street. Vansleve said similar villages are in the works, generally on small slivers of "virtually unusable" city land, like "oddly shaped junk lots" and the site of a former rolling rink. Another Tiny Home site opened on July 2 in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Tarzana, just west of here.

We have also been a leader in Philadelphia in responding to the root causes of homelessness by helping to rebuild low-income neighborhoods and by engaging in political advocacy to bring about positive public policies for low-income and homeless persons. In November 2022, Santa Monica’s residents — notably not the City Council — voted for Measure GS, which provided for a 5 percent transfer tax on property sales of $8 million or more, with funds going to homelessness prevention, affordable housing and schools. We currently provide 976 units of affordable housing with support services. Our programs offer permanent, subsidized housing for individuals and families who had been homeless. Santa Monica failed to get its housing plan approved by the state by October 2022, leaving it open to builder’s remedy projects. What Watson experienced turned out to be a wholesale shift in how Santa Monica approaches new development. In February, a month before Grubb scored its approval, Gov. Gavin Newsom designated Santa Monica a “pro-housing community,” citing the city’s efforts and progress made through an affordable housing program. Project Roomkey was established in March 2020 as part of the state response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of Project Roomkey and Rehousing Strategy was to provide non-congregate shelter options, such as hotels and motels, for people experiencing homelessness, to protect human life, and to minimize strain on health care system capacity.

The approval process was no longer discretionary, but by right as long as the zoning allowed for it. Grubb’s approval appeared to indicate that the designation meant something real, an important change at a time when politicians and developers around the country are aching for opportunities to build and wondering how to change local hearts and minds around new projects. The foundation for all our work is the individual connections we make with each person that comes to Project 180.

While the spotlight for now is on campus protests, former President Donald Trump, now vying to win back the presidency, has also come under criticism for his rhetoric related to Jewish Americans. "Now it's up to Senator Schumer, the highest ranking Jewish official in America and in American history, to do something and bring this bill for a vote on the Senate floor," he said, urging the Senate to "quickly act on it." The House vote was 320 to 91 with 70 Democrats and 21 Republicans voting against the bill. The GOP opposition largely came from the right flank of the conference. Supporters of the legislation say it will help combat antisemitism on college campuses, but opponents say it overreaches and threatens to chill free speech.

How to Reduce Dust in Your House: Ways to Win the Battle in Your Dusty Home

how to reduce dust in house

When it comes to breathing in clean air, dust is a detrimental factor. The American Lung Association notes that dust and dust mites are some of the major indoor triggers for people with asthma and that dusting regularly is important to improve indoor air quality. Luckily, there are ways you can reduce dust levels by knowing how to get rid of dust mites effectively.

Dust can cause respiratory problems, and can also give your home a messy feel. Make sure you dust hard-to-reach places, like behind appliances and in the cracks and crevices of cabinets. Make efforts to make your environment less susceptible to dust.

Change Bedding Weekly

It’s also recommended to never bring them into the closet, and keep them separate from your clothing if you can. While it’s one of the simplest household chores, there is a right way to dust. Dusting things in the wrong order can leave you with an even bigger mess.

Clean Your Window Blinds

But still, it’s no fun knowing your home’s dusty, so keep reading for tips on how to reduce the dust in your house. Garcia recommends following up this task with a clean, damp cloth to remove any residual solution. The US Mine Safety and Health Administration released Tuesday a much-anticipated final rule to reduce miners’ exposure to silica dust, a health hazard known to damage lungs. Before the project starts, always designate one doorway as the entry and exit to the work area. To seal up the other doorways, we use 6-mil poly and masking or blue tape. For doorways that open onto other rooms or hallways, we seal both sides.

So, for those who suffer from indoor allergies, keeping surfaces and fabrics dust-free is essential because doing so removes those pesky dust mites. "Dust mites are not carried by the air," says Christine Kingsley, APRN, Health and Wellness Director of the Lung Institute. "They settle into dust or fabric, which serve as their nests. When inhaled, they can cause inflammation of the nasal passages—this is especially true for people with dust mite allergies." Leaving doors and windows open allows dirt, hair bugs and other small particles to get into the house, even through a screen. There's a reason why blinds and window sills are some of the dustiest spots in the house. Exhaust vent grilles, especially those in bathrooms, collect lots of dust.

Using a vacuum with a HEPA filter won't prevent dust from accumulating, but it will remove more of it when you do clean. Pick a model with a dust-buster attachment so you can clean all those nooks and crannies as well as the floor. You don’t want to know how much dust lurks in carpeting and rugs. Even if you vacuum and shake out rugs frequently, dust gets trapped in there until someone walks or rolls around on them, and then that dust becomes airborne. Some will resettle in the carpet while some will end up on your horizontal surfaces.

Brush pets regularly and clean paws before entering

It extends to less-thought-of spaces such as cleaning under the bed, removing dust beneath rugs, or even making sure your outdoor furniture is sparkling clean. Dust lurks in every nook and cranny, so it’s crucial to cover all your bases. From your polywood furniture on the deck to your fabric headboard, each item presents a unique challenge. "Vacuum little and often, rather than just a weekly deep clean, like many of us have historically done."

Use a Hairdryer on House Plants

The genius MudBuster is made to clean your pet's paws before entering the house. Find somewhere to store your dirty shoes, preferably in a mud room or outside the front door. When you come home and change clothes, put the clothes you take off directly into the hamper. See what's causing dust buildup in your home and how to keep the dust away.

Wash your bedding frequently

Cleaning, whether it’s our cozy couch, lovely linen chair, or even our pet-friendly coffee table, becomes a more manageable task when we understand how to clean smart. As a seasoned interior designer, I can assure you, it’s not just about the hard scrubbing. Knowing the right technique to clean different materials, like leather sofas or wool rugs, can drastically reduce the amount of dust that lingers in your home. Dry dusting mostly moves dust around, then it falls on the floor or floats in the air and resettles on the surfaces you just cleaned. The best way to dust is using a damp cloth and rinsing it often, so you’re getting that stuff out of your home not just spreading it around. Major household appliances like refrigerators, ovens, washers, and dryers attract a lot of dust.

Skin cells, animal dander, pollen, and lint are some of the more commonly known components of dust. However, dust can also contain various toxic chemicals, such as phenols and phthalates. Feather dusters may be fun to use and work temporarily, but they often just move dust around and send it flying only to settle again on a shelf or under a door.

In between replacements, vacuum filters if your home gets exceptionally dusty. The ways to get rid of dust in your home are relatively easy and affordable, but it does take developing good habits and being consistent. You also may need to bid farewell to some things you love if you have anyone in your home with an intense dust allergy (like carpet, pets in the bed, or mountains of stuffed animals).

If your home is drafty, or your doors don’t fit well, it blows in through gaps. Add weatherstripping around your doors then caulk gaps around trim and windows. Make sure your windows seal tightly, too, and you’ll reduce how much dust blows inside. Sturdy mats at every entrance to your home give people a place to wipe their feet before entering. This one step alone dramatically reduces dust, even if people don’t take their shoes off inside. Remember to shake the mats outdoors or vacuum them every few days.

It smells gorgeous – I think it’s like a very slight hint of caramel. It’s got a screw cap tube that prevents any spill accidents inside my bag or pocket. It’s a good packaging design for travelling and on the go. However, one of the biggest drawbacks to this lip oil is that there is very little product inside. I would say it’s about half full, which makes me question whether it’s worth the price.

Not a lot of the product comes out, but the rollerball applicator makes for clean and simple use without any excess residue. But make no mistake, this is not a tropical scent adorned with fruity notes, like coconut and pineapple. How to Get Rid of Dust: 15 Simple Steps for a Dust-Free Home

how to reduce dust in house

“Filtration-based air purifiers are a great way to reduce how much dust settles on surfaces and how often you need to clean surfaces,” says Chris Dooley of Puraclenz. Look for air purifiers with a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filter. Soft, fluffy cloths are absorbent and best for holding dust, which minimizes the potential to scratch surfaces. It should be only slightly damp so you don’t leave any solution behind.

Interior Decorator Cost vs. Havenly Online Interior Designer Cost

The best air purifier for dust removal, mold, or pet allergies can make a significant difference in your home’s air quality. You might be wondering, ‘does an air purifier help with mold? The truth is, with the right choice, an air purifier can be an efficient tool in your dust reduction arsenal.

Don’t Just Move Dust Around

(Clean it regularly.) A pair of spare shoes outside your back door adds convenience. Reducing clutter in your house is a big help when it comes to cutting back on dust. The fewer things you have, the fewer dust magnets in your home.

Hiring Julio Arco as Your Online Interior Designer

That’s why it’s important to know whether you should dust or vacuum first. If your vacuum has a bag, be sure to change it when it fills up. If you vacuum is bagless, empty out the dirt cup after every use. Clean or replace filters often and if your vacuum has a belt, check to make sure it’s in good shape.

These include how many people live there, if you have pets, the amount of clutter, and your cleaning habits. Even the time of year influences dust, as various outdoor elements come into your home and contribute to the problem. We know that you love and adore your pet, but your four-legged friend is probably a major culprit in creating the extra dust in your home. If clumps of fur start to look like tumbleweeds on your floors, it’s time to give your pet extra grooming time.

Dust buildup on these items can be eliminated with a vacuum; simply use a dusting attachment to vacuum the exterior of household appliances. Be sure to pull them out from the wall, so that you can vacuum the backside and the space around them. Because of static electricity, electronics like TVs, computers, and stereo equipment attract a lot of dust.

Keeping the Dust Down

Walls, high light fixtures, chandeliers and ceiling fans should all be at the top of your dusting list before moving to lower areas. Dust the ceiling fan last and you’ll be re-dusting the floor below. When it comes to dusting the right way, saving time is a priority. Another easy way to reduce the levels of dust in your home is to buy an entry door mat, in particular a waterhog mat that is specifically for trapping dust. So before you take out your trusted cleaning products and microfibre cloths, find out the best ways to reduce dust in your home according to experts. To dust your ceiling, use a long vacuum hose with a brush attachment.

Ditch the duster and use a microfiber cloth

Typically I write in six hours of cleaning to be done at the end of the project. If you want or need more, add that in during the initial contract review or hire a cleaning service on your own. Cleaning early in the morning or late at night can be beneficial as these times typically have less activity in the house, allowing the dust to settle after cleaning. Clutter doesn’t just collect dust, it makes it harder to clean your home, too.

Which Window Treatment Works Best for Your House? Blinds vs. Curtains

how to reduce dust in house

Dust and dirt can accumulate almost anywhere, but common areas include carpets, upholstery, shelves, and vents. Regularly cleaning these areas can significantly reduce dust in your home. When you’re ready to replace your carpet, a switch to hard flooring can help you conquer dust.

Finally, don’t forget to clean your dusting tools before putting them away. Take all of your dusters outside and shake them out to remove as much dust as possible. Some dusters can be washed in a washing machine, but you’ll want to consult each product’s manufacturer recommendations.

If you used microfiber cloths or a duster, do not add fabric softener to your wash cycle when washing them; it can decrease how much dust the fibers attract. Use a vacuum cleaner for rugs, carpet, and hard flooring such as wood or tile. Brooms can simply push dust around and leave it in another area of the room. When you’re looking for how to eliminate dust, vacuuming regularly—even as often as once daily if you’re able—can be a huge help. Dead human skin cells contribute to dust but so do pet skin cells (dander) and hair.

Try to empty the bin outside since dust and dirt are bound to go flying the second you open the compartment. We love our pets, but they do contribute to indoor dustiness. When your pet’s fur needs brushing, it’s best to take them outside and make sure the windows downwind are closed. You can vacuum all you want, but if your machine is spewing that dust right back in to the air or not sucking up the dust, you won’t ever get ahead.

On windows, forego the drapes, and pick treatments that are less likely to attract dust, like roller shades or roman shades, both of which are easily dusted or wiped down. If you simply can’t live without carpet, at least choose low-pile versions that make it easier to keep clean. Wool carpets tend to be a good option for those living with dust allergies, and nylon carpets offer a more affordable option.

How Many Cruise Ships Have Sunk?

sinking cruise liner

There are multiple reasons for her sinking – the weather was extremely stormy, and the ship was way over capacity, with twice the expected load onboard. As passengers stood on the starboard side to view the storm, a freak wave combined with the weight of the passengers to capsize the ship. The last time a cruise ship sank with passengers on board was a Chinese river cruise ship in 2015, which hit an unexpected and severe storm that capsized the boat. This ship was berthed in Beirut during the massive ammonium nitrate explosion of 2020 at the port.

NBC News correspondent Kelly Cobiella caught up with a group of survivors on TODAY Wednesday, a decade after they escaped a maritime disaster that claimed the lives of 32 people. The Italian cruise ship ran aground off the tiny Italian island of Giglio after striking an underground rock and capsizing. Costa Concordia disaster, the capsizing of an Italian cruise ship on January 13, 2012, after it struck rocks off the coast of Giglio Island in the Tyrrhenian Sea. More than 4,200 people were rescued, though 32 people died in the disaster.

Missing Passengers

To understand the gravity of that fateful night’s situation, let’s walk through the timeline that led to the Costa Concordia incident. She sank in 1927 off the coast of Brazil when a propeller shaft broke and damaged the hull of the ship. She sank slowly, but there was some confusion on board which meant that 314 people died of the 1,252 passengers and crew on the ship. Of these, 5 occurred when no passengers were on board, and in another, there was an engine fire during a cruise but all passengers and crew were safely evacuated.

Crew Members Held Accountable

Making things worse, the crew had dropped the anchor incorrectly, causing the ship to flop over even more dramatically. The Oceanos cruise staff & entertainers ran the successful rescue of every one of the 581 passengers and crew. In the dark they launched the lifeboats and then as dawn broke, they helped the amazing helicopter crews to airlift the last 200 to safety.

Addressing the negligence that led to the catastrophic event, the Italian courts held crew members and the crisis coordinator accountable. Four crew members and the ship’s crisis coordinator pled guilty to various offenses in a critical Concordia cruise ship salvage update. Their sentences, marked by the gravity of the incident, were relatively short but underscored collective culpability. This ship sank in 2012, but the echoes of the Costa Concordia tragedy still resonate powerfully.

Adam Zivo: 'We've absolutely lost control' to drug users, desperate B.C. hospital nurses say

The ship sustained severe damage to its hull; it flooded and lost power, and the rudder was positioned so the ship couldn’t be steered. The MS Sea Diamond first sailed as the Birka Princess for Birka Line cruises. She was renamed the Sea Diamond when she was bought by Louis Cruises in 2006. Almost all crew and passengers escaped safely, with two people unaccounted for. There were also some issues with the ship’s waste disposal system, and a vital ventilation pipe was broken.

Cruise ships very rarely sink, and when they do it is often when they don’t have passengers on board. Just over one cruise ship every 5 years has sunk in the last 100 years. Generally, the modern safety features on cruise ships mean that very few lives are lost if ships ever sink. In the last 100 years, only 22 cruise ships have sunk, and some of those sinkings were either while berthed or while being towed. While the sinking of cruise ships makes for dramatic news headlines and blockbuster film plots, it is a relatively rare occurrence in reality.

On board were 416 crew, 2 gunners and 205 passengers, consisting of military personnel and their families. Of the 1,066 people on board, 1,036 made it into lifeboats or the water and were rescued. For the sake of this list, I’ve looked back just over 100 years, so that we cover everything from possibly the most famous cruise ship sinking ever. The cause of the sinking was the ship hitting a rock underwater, resulting from the human error of the ship’s captain who has since been found guilty of manslaughter.

She made multiple transatlantic trips carrying troops from Canada to England during her service. On October 26, 1940, the Empress of Britain was bombed, and on October 28, she was sunk by a German U-boat. With a Masters in Tourism and Hospitality, Jennifer is passionate about responsible and meaningful travel that fosters cultural exchange. Whether trekking through the Atlas Mountains, sailing to Komodo National Park, or taking an overnight train across Eastern Europe - she is always seeking her next epic destination. Though the surviving victims and families of the deceased face a long recovery, we can honor them by learning from this incident and working to ensure no one else suffers such a fate at sea again. Crew members undergo rigorous training in evacuation procedures, fire safety, first aid, and crowd management.

Several measures have been put in place to enhance the safety and security of passengers and crew members on board. Within the last 100 years, only 22 cruise ships have sunk, if you include river cruise ships and ocean liners. Almost 2,000 people have died in these incidents but over half of those can be attributed to ships sinking before 1940. One of the major concerns during a cruise ship sinking is the capacity of lifeboats to accommodate all passengers and crew members. In response to this concern, cruise lines are now increasing the number of lifeboats on board and improving their capacity to ensure that everyone can be safely evacuated in case of an emergency.

To understand the tangible changes post-Costa disaster, I delved into the modifications in training and regulations. The Carnival sinking cruise ship 2012 incident underscored the need for more intensive crew training, emergency preparedness, and passenger safety briefings. These revisions were not mere suggestions but mandatory steps to solidify trust in cruise vacations for passengers and crew members alike. During his trial, which I followed closely, the Concordia shipwreck captain faced severe backlash for mishandling the situation, culminating in a conviction for manslaughter and causing a maritime disaster. The court of public opinion was no kinder than the Italian legal system; Schettino infamously became emblematic of imprudent leadership at sea.

The work done by salvage teams was not just a technical achievement but a concerted effort to preserve a vulnerable ecosystem that had the misfortune of being the stage for this tragedy. My involvement in the Costa Concordia scrapping process allowed me to witness first-hand the sophistication and the scale of operations required to counteract the damage. Approximately 500 international salvage experts collaborated on what would become a historic mission, utilizing advanced underwater platforms and cranes to parry further environmental injury. As an observer and reporter, I’ve seen firsthand how a once vibrant vacation remnant is now a silent watchdog, ensuring the sanctuary’s safety. The sunken cruise ship, a convergence of human tragedy and ecological peril, has become an inadvertent monument to both. As I stand here today, the once majestic beacon of the cruise industry lies dormant.

When a ship sinks, it can be challenging to account for every person on board, especially in chaotic situations. Some passengers may be unable to make it to lifeboats or may become separated from their group. The unfolding hours saw a flurry of life-saving efforts as cruise ship Concordia’s latest news reported how crew members and locals exemplified extraordinary courage.

There were no causalities but, despite being brand new, the ship couldn’t be retrieved. Lessons learned from these disasters have helped to keep people much safer in more recent times. I went with my sisters and we chose "Taste of Cairo and Istanbul" for our vacation. Cairo is amazing, it was my first time there but definitely not the last one. Istanbul was my second time but it was really different and more meaningful this time with Memphis Tours. Amazing trip to see different sides of Africa.

This can curb your sightseeing resolve, as you will find yourself walking among ancient ruins under the blazing sun. Many cruise lines offer a morning hot-air balloon excursion over the Valley of the Kings. If you have a chance to try this, take it. It's an incredible voyage that shows the vastness of the Valley, the several cites still being unearthed and the contrast between the green banks of the Nile and the dry Sahara. While you can start your Nile cruise from Cairo, you also have the choice to make the journey in the opposite direction and travel northward.

I really enjoyed all the places that we visited in Egypt but cruising over the Nile was for sure my favourite. Kenya was beyound amazing, all the nature, the weather, everything is amazing. My favourite part was Lake Nakuru National Park. They hit all the hotspots and made it very enjoyable. There was ample amount of time at each historic site. Recently back from a fabulous holiday in Egypt and Jordan.

Follow in the footsteps of renowned scholars and explorers as you venture forth into the Valley of the Kings, the ancient burial grounds of Egyptian royalty. You will enjoy an exhilarating ride in a felucca, a traditional Nile River sailboat.

It's likely that your cruise line will provide ample bottled water for you, so you probably won't need a reusable water bottle. Look out for the statue of one of sun God Amun-Re's incarnations -- a scarab beetle -- which symbolizes eternal life. Supposedly, if you walk around this sculpture three times, you're granted health, wealth and many children. But, if you walk around it five times, you'll get good luck and avoid envy.
